Coronavius (Covid-19)


The general clinical case definition for COVID-19 has been updated to include loss of or change in smell or taste. It is now:
New continuous cough OR fever OR loss of/ change in smell or taste
Everyone, including health and social care workers, should self-isolate if they develop a new continuous cough or fever or loss of/ change in smell or taste. 
The individual’s household should also self-isolate for 14 days as per the current guidelines and the individual should stay at home for 7 days, or longer if they still have symptoms other than cough or loss of sense of smell or taste

If more serious symptoms develop that they cannot manage at home they should firstly use NHS 111 online . People should only call NHS 111 if they cannot use the online 111 tool.


Despite reductions in government guidelines, we need to remain vigilant and alert.

Self-Isolation for 14 Days before Elective Admission

If you, or a member of your household have been told to self-isolate for 14 days prior to elective admission to hospital your GP cannot issue a sick note.

We advise the following  :

  •    The admission letter from the hospital should be sufficient for your employer.
  •    If not, please contact NHS 111 to self-declare and apply for a self-isolation note. Answer yes to the question ”Have you been told to self- isolate by an NHS service or healthcare professional ?” Then tick the box that says “ I have been told to self-isolate by a test and trace service”
  •     You will then be able to get a self-isolation note sent to you.

We want to get better at communicating with our patients. We want to make sure you can read and understand the information we send you. If you find it hard to read our letters or if you need someone to support you at appointments, please let us know.

We want to know if you need information in braille, large print or easy read.

We want to know if you need a British Sign Language interpreter or advocate.

We want to know if we can support you to lip-read or use a hearing aid or communication tool.

Extended Access to Appointments

From 01 February 2018 we will be working with some of our Local Practices, to offer additional later appointments, as well as weekend appointments.

The local Practices comprise the following: Ashfield House, Family Medical Centre, Kirkby Health Centre, Lowmoor Road Surgery, Selston Surgery, Health Care Complex and Jacksdale Medical Centre.

Appointments will be available weekdays up to 20:00 in our local area, each surgery has a set day to cover.

Appointments will also be available on Saturday mornings (by rota) in our local area so not always at KCPCC. These appointments are for non-emergencies and pre-bookable only. When appointments are not available at KCPCC during these new times (18:30 till 20:00 and on Saturdays) appointments may be available at one of the other practices listed above.

GPs, Practice Nurses and Health Care Assistants appointments will be available.

These additional appointments are for pre booking only and non-emergencies, so unlikely to be available to be booked on the same day. Nor will we be able to deal with emergencies / urgent enquiries or collection of prescriptions.

General enquiries, emergencies/urgent appointments, booking of appointments, collecting of prescriptions will continue during our normal working hours only. For urgent / emergencies or book-on-the-same-day appointments, please contact the practice with whom you are registered for help with these types of appointments.

Currently, there are no facilities to transfer blood samples to the hospital, during these new appointment times (from 18:30 to 20:00 and Saturdays). So unfortunately, we will not be able to offer routine blood taking, during these hours. We are working with the Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG), to work with the hospital, so that we may be able to offer this service during our new extended hours in future.

Extended GP access service is now accessible 7 days per week. If you require an appointment on a Sunday please enquire with the reception team. 

From 01 April 2019 both Abbey Medical Group and Sherwood Medical Partnership will be the provider of a Sunday and Bank Holiday Extended GP Access service providing primary care services to patients registered with practices across Mansfield, Ashfield and Sherwood. The service will be provided on alternate weekends from either Blidworth Surgery or Crown Medical Centre (Clipstone). The service will provide GP and Nursing appointments from 08:00 to 10:00 every Sunday and Bank Holiday and is a routine, pre-bookable service only

Electronic Prescriptions

Kirkby Community Primary Care Centre are pleased to announce that a new Electronic Prescription Service will be available from 18th May 2016. Patients will need to nominate a Pharmacy for this service, or contact the surgery for further details after 18th May 2016.

From April 2015 all NHS Practices must assign and notify patients of their named GP.
